Queenstown Ski Resorts
Queenstown is a tourist mecca and vibrant town during the day, and in the evenings the infamous Queenstown nightlife kicks in. Queenstown is also the adventure capital of the world and there are loads of other activities on offer, including tours to Milford Sound.

Coronet Peak ski resort is a 20 minute drive from Queenstown. Coronet Peak has well developed resort facilities, a family friendly vibe, and the ski resort is particularly well suited to beginners and intermediates.

The Remarkables ski field is also close to Queenstown. The Remarkables is very family oriented and is great for novices and terrain park fanatics.

Wanaka Ski Resorts
The picturesque town of Wanaka is located about an hour from Queenstown.

Treble Cone ski resort is located near Wanaka, and is particularly great for advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders. Treble Cone receives more snowfall than the other commerical NZ ski resorts.

Cardrona ski resort near Wanaka is a very good all-rounder with terrain on offer for all abilities, and great terrain park facilities.

If you love hitting the terrain park, then nearby Snow Park is fabulous. It’s one big terrain park!

Methven
The town of Methven is only 1.5 hours drive from Christchurch International Airport.

Mt Hutt ski resort is located near Methven, and offers terrain for all ability levels including some steep challenging terrain.

Mt Ruapehu Ski Resorts
Mt Ruapehu is an active volcano adjacent to Mt Doom from the Lords of the Rings. The mountain is located on the north island of New Zealand, about half way between Auckland and Wellington.

Whakapapa sits on the north-western flanks of Mount Ruapehu. It’s a large ski resort by NZ standards and has varied terrain.

TheTuroa ski field sits on the southwestern slopes of Mt Ruapehu and is fabulous for cruising.

New Zealand Ski Season

The New Zealand ski season runs from approximately mid June to late October. The best time to visit is from mid July to early September.
